JAMES: A while back my wife came home and she says, “Well, you know a lot of our friends are saying that you look tired. They ask if you’re getting enough sleep.” I never thought anything about it. I thought, “Gee, when you get 65 and as old as I am, that happens.” I looked in the mirror and said, “Well, what do you know?” I had brought my mother here in her 90s off and on for years and years and years and she had her cataracts done and my wife had her cataracts done. So St. Luke’s was the only place I thought there was to have your eyes done. I came here and Dr. LiVecchi’s tech girls make you feel very comfortable, they’re very cordial and have good senses of humor. They got started and they took some pictures of my eyes. They found that they were closed so insurance would pay for it. So they signed me up for the procedure and I went in for the procedure and the first thing the lady said was, “Would you like to have a guardian angel on your jacket?” Now that’s awful nice. That’s a nice thing. You don’t get that everywhere else. I went in and she said, “Would you like to pray?” I said, “Well, it’s just a little skin off my eyes.” But I thought, “Well, that’s nice as well.” So the procedure was very uneventful. Uneventful is good for surgery. That means nothing untoward happened. So as far as going back into the population and as far as concern after surgery there’s some discomfort but there’s really no actual pain. A couple of weeks ago I had to meet my daughter that I hadn’t seen in about a year and a half. My daughter said, “What did you do Dad? There’s something. I can’t—did you do something before?” I said, “No, I had my eyes done.” She said, “That’s it. They look nice.” It makes me feel good. People say I look rested and younger and I owe that to Dr. LiVecchi. I call him the magic man.
