DR. BRIAN A. PHILPOTTS: Vitrioretinal surgery in the last five to ten years has benefited from many technological advances. The surgical techniques over the last ten to 20 years have really become very refined and now we’re able to get very reproducible, high success rates with retinal detachment surgeries, macular hole surgeries, macular wrinkle and pucker surgeries. Many of the various instruments that we use today have been refined and we’ve benefited from these greatly.
